Reveal Walla Walla Valley Wine Returns for Sixth Event

Reveal Walla Walla Valley Wine Auction Momentum Continues with Another Successful Year

Walla Walla, WA (April 12, 2022) Reveal Walla Walla Valley, a wine futures auction for the wine trade and private collectors, raised $96,250 on Monday, April 11, 2022. After two years without the in-person event, Reveal made its return with a slate of events in the Walla Walla Valley. Reveal provides the perfect opportunity to purchase unique Walla Walla Valley wines while experiencing the camaraderie, creativity, and commitment that founded the Walla Walla Valley wine industry.

The 2022 auction featured 17 one-of-a-kind, small-lot wines from the Walla Walla Valley American Viticulture Area (AVA); these wines will only be available to the public through resale by the winning bidder.

Reveal is designed to allow Walla Walla Valley wineries and buyers to connect. We want bidders to become a part of this close-knit community and form relationships during their time here, in addition to taking home one-of-a-kind wines representative of the Walla Walla Valley AVA,” said Robert Hansen, Executive Director of Walla Walla Valley Wine.

Over the course of two days, the attendees of Reveal took full advantage to meet the winemakers and taste the exceptional wines being produced in the Walla Walla Valley. Upon arrival on Sunday, April 10, guests were hosted at Doubleback and progressed from a library tasting to a family-style dinner intimately set in the winery’s production facility. On Monday, April 11, bidders sampled through all 17 auction lot wines in the elegant Corliss Estate tasting room before advancing into the production facility for the auction.

Presided over by renowned auctioneer Fred Northup Jr., the auction room was abounding with excitement that continued to build as Northup and emcee Dave Mitchell shared the unique traits of each wine. Walla Walla Valley winemakers looked on and delighted in bidding wars and escalating prices, resulting in a whopping 44 percent lot price increase over the online 2020 auction. Winning bidders were congratulated with a celebratory reception following the final gavel strike.

The top three lots sold were Corliss, Leonetti Cellar and Doubleback for $9,000, $9,000 and $8,500 respectively.

Thanks to the continued success of Reveal, a portion of the 2022 proceeds will be devoted to Walla Walla Community College’s Institute for Enology & Viticulture and dedicated to pulling up the next generation of winegrowers by providing scholarships to future students of the program.

The 2023 Reveal Walla Walla Valley Auction will take place April 16-17. Attendees are invite-only licensed wine buyers and private collectors. For more information or to join the mailing list, visit RevealWallaWalla.com.
