Harvest Update from Blue Mountain Vineyard.
How’s 2025 shaping up? Vineyard Operations Manager Todd Harrington shares what he’s seeing this Harvest:
🍇Yields – “Yields have been up and down depending on the variety. Earlier-blooming varieties like Syrah and Cabernet Franc have a full crop load, later varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon look considerably lighter.”
✨Quality Outlook – “Fruit quality is excellent this year, and we’ve seen good pacing between the 16 different varieties we farm. That’s allowed us to move steadily across our vineyard rather than the whole property needing to be picked all at once.”
☀️Weather – “The vines started to bloom early this year, which typically means an early start to harvest. Dry and warm weather punctuated by a few rain showers have allowed the fruit to continue developing flavor and ripen evenly, without causing water stress and excessive sugars.”
🍷 This Week’s Picks – Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache.
🌱Looking Ahead – “We’re eager to harvest our first fruit from the Mourvèdre vines planted at Blue Mountain Vineyard in 2022. Those vines had to be retrained last year after the 2024 hard freeze, but we’re excited to see how that variety expresses our vineyard’s terroir.”
The 2025 harvest is shaping up with excellent fruit and plenty to be excited about in the Walla Walla Valley. 🍇
