April 2021 is the 2nd Annual Walla Walla Valley Wine Month

Presented by Walla Walla Valley Wine and its members, April is the perfect month to honor all the Valley has to offer!

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (April 1, 2021) –Today, Walla Walla Valley Wine is kicking off the second annual Walla Walla Valley Wine Month. Throughout the month of April, efforts will focus on celebrating the wine region and experiencing Walla Walla Valley wine through special winery promotions and in-person experiences.

The first Walla Walla Valley Wine Month took place in April 2020. April was selected as Walla Walla Valley Wine Month to shine a light on all this time of year has to offer in the Walla Walla Valley. April marks the return of green to the vines and is home to the first official wine weekend of the year, Spring Kick-Off Weekend. April also happens to be nestled between Taste Washington Wine Month, March, and Oregon Wine Month, May, just as the gem-shaped cross border Walla Walla Valley AVA is positioned.

The outbreak of COVID-19 altered plans for 2020’s inaugural celebration, and the 2021 celebration will go on with safety guidelines in mind once again. In place of the large scale, wine-centric events that the Walla Walla Valley usually sees with the arrival of spring, local wineries are redesigning their celebrations to be more intimate, including elevated tasting experiences. In addition, the Walla Walla Valley remains open for business online, with many wineries offering special packages and discounted shipping.

“Walla Walla Valley Wine Month is an unparalleled opportunity to experience Walla Walla Valley Wine, whether you are near or far,” says Robert Hansen, Executive Director of Walla Walla Valley Wine. “Interested wine enthusiasts can shop wine in person and online, opt for tastings at our wineries or simply follow along on social media to learn about the Walla Walla Valley AVA and begin planning their next trip when the time is right.”

Walla Walla Valley Wine will conduct a social media campaign throughout the month sharing information about the wine region along with resources to support wine consumption at home. On WallaWallaWine.com/Event/Wine-Month, consumers can find a list of specials for the month ranging from in-person food & wine pairing experiences to shipping discounts.

“If the last year has taught us anything, it’s that wine can be experienced and enjoyed no matter where you are.  Walla Walla Valley wineries have adapted, making it easy to receive wine in the comfort of your home or engage in a safe tasting environment while visiting wineries,” says Hansen. “People can celebrate alongside us by opening up a treasured Walla Walla Valley bottle from their cellar, ordering the first of this year’s rosé releases or finding new wineries to try. This month will be a celebration of all the aspects that make up Walla Walla Valley Wine, we hope that it will also be a time to connect with one another.”
